The Commonwealth Games is reportedly facing legal action over its 2018 mascot, a koala named Borobi.
Announced on a Gold Coast beach in April 2016, the bright blue mascot takes its name from an indigenous word for koala.
Indigenous adviser Wesley Aird alleges it is disrespectful to southeast Queensland's Yugambeh people and that Games organisers did not properly consult about using traditional land, News Corp reports.
But his legal action has been criticised by elder Mary Graham as not reflecting the views of all Yugambeh people.
Ms Graham, who is on an advisory group to the Games, told News Corp they had been consultation "from the beginning", with "lots of meetings open to everyone".
