The Australian dollar is higher against its US counterpart and has once again jumped above the 77 US cent mark.

At 0635 AEDT on Friday, the Australian dollar was worth 77.14 US cents, up sharply from 76.97 US cents on Thursday.

The US dollar index has fallen 0.2 per cent.

Westpac’s Imre Speizer said, in a note, that the Aussie dollar overnight reached 77.41 US cents, a four-month high.

He said the next target would be November’s level of 77.80 US cents.

The local currency is also higher against the euro but has fallen against the yen.
