Nobody knows this more than poor Michael Onorati, who woke up on Tuesday morning to a terrifying sight. His feet were black.

Posting a photo of his blackened feet on the Ladbible Facebook page, he wrote:

“Woke up to a black foot this morning thought it was the old Raynaud phenomenon …” Referencing the short-term interruption of blood flow to the extremities.

But the truth of his trotters’ concerning appearance was more hilarious than medical emergency.

He continued: “Sh*t my pants for a good 30 mins then found out that the missus decided to use my socks as a fake tanning mit #blackandwhite.”

One would be excused for thinking this is an isolated, but nonetheless funny incident, but almost instantly fellow self tan victims began sharing their stories.

Clearly the takeaway here is that socks make great makeshift tan applicators, they just result in some not-so-happy feet.
