ONE Nation candidate Shan Ju Lin has labelled gay people “abnormalâ€, saying that they “should be treated as patients†and “need to receive treatments.â€
The since-deleted post referenced the case of George Harasz and Douglas Wirth who were accused of sexually abusing their foster children. However, their arrests were back in 2011 and in 2014 they were cleared of any wrongdoing.
The Huffington Post reports that Ms Ju Lin wrote “Abnormal sex behaviour leads to abnormal crime. Gays should be treated as patients, they need to receive treatments.â€
Ms Ju Lin, a Taiwanese-Australian, is a prolific poster on Facebook, sharing dozens of posts a day.
She has not commented on the Facebook post, other than to repost it on her page saying “thanks Huffington Postâ€.
This is not the first time they have been controversial and criticised.
Last month she posted a photoshopped image of US President Barack Obama wearing makeup and a pride flag earring and lapel pin.
She also caused uproar when she said that “good Asians†would agree with Pauline Hansons views on immigration.
Ms Ju Lin is a former Katter Australia Party candidate but plans to run for One Nation in the 2018 Queensland election.
