WELCOME to Australia, where the wildlife is so dangerous you can no longer even check for your bloody mail.
A resident in a Buderim home in Queensland got the shock of his life when he went out to collect his mail, only to discover a huge carpet python slumbering peacefully in his letterbox.
Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers’ Max was called to remove the sleeping intruder, which clearly just wanted a cool, dark place to catch a few winks.
The snake was carefully removed and successfully relocated into some nearby bushland, where he’ll no doubt be able to sleep in peace without terrorising the good people of Queensland.
Maybe it’s something about the festive air (or, like, the fact that our wildlife is terrifying) but snakes seem to be showing up a lot lately.
Yesterday a woman from Frankston, Victoria, got the shock of her life after she found a live tiger snake wrapped around her Christmas tree like tinsel.
The snake slithered into her home through an open door on Sunday, and wrapped itself around the tree as if hoping no one would realise it was not in fact a tacky ornament.
Tiger snakes have a venomous bite and can be potentially fatal to humans.
... and on that festive note, Merry Christmas to all of you!
