You could actually own this toy.

IN 1996, Arnold Schwarzenegger was the star of Christmas movie Jingle All the Way.

The film about two guilt-wracked fathers racing around Minneapolis on Christmas Eve in an attempt to buy their sons a sold-out action figure wasn’t a hit by any stretch of the imagination.

Despite its awful 17 per cent film rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the two decade old film has been the inspiration for a Kickstarter campaign, which has already raised more than $A20,000.

In an attempt to evoke nostalgia and celebrate a time where toys where the ultimate gift, Kickstarter user J.R. DeJesus has started a crowdsourcing campaign to recreate the TurboMan action figure seen in the Christmas flick.

Jingle All the Way directorBrian Levant has even given the original prop from the film to DeJesus, so he can 3D-scan the TurboMan figurine for added authenticity.

Despite scanning the giant 36cm figure from the end of the film, the Kickstarter campaign will be making models of the 14-and-a-half inch toys, which were sold-out in the film.

“I’ve received confirmation that each figure will come with replica boxes,” the user wrote.

Seems like the hot demand for this toy doesn’t only exist in the movies.

DeJesus will also be slightly tweaking the model by making the figures fully poseable — the toys in the movie were stationary.

The Kickstarter campaign was hoping to get 100 people to pay $A178 for the figurine, with additional shipping cost required.

It turned out this way quite an easy task with all 100 units sold-out just five days into the campaign.

With additional pledges coming in, DeJesus announced there would be an additional 100 units available.
“Due to supply and demand, an additional 100 pcs have been added to the reward tier,” he wrote.

Unfortunately, moments later he announced the extension would not be happening after all.

“We have taken into consideration your concerns and will not be raising the amount, we apologise for any inconvenience,” he wrote.

So those hoping to get the highly sought-after toy will not be able to purchase one because they have sold-out — oh the irony.

There is always the option to head to eBay, but you will be paying a lot more than $A178.
