Harrison Ford is back as Blade Runner, 30 years after the original.
FILM fans have been given their first taste of what to expect from the highly anticipated Blade Runner sequel.
The trailer for Blade Runner 2049 sees Harrison Ford return to his iconic role as Rick Deckard, while Ryan Gosling joins the cast as a new blade runner in the LAPD called Officer K, The Sun reports.
The follow up to the 1982 neo-noir science fiction movie begins with Ryan appearing through the city fog before heading into an apocalyptic landscape in search of Harrison’s character.
Stepping into a dusty mansion, Ryan’s alter ego presses a key on the piano before Harrison’s distinctive voice can be heard from the shadows saying: “I had your job once … I was good at it.â€
As Ryan turns around, the camera focuses on Harrison as he steps out of the shadows wielding a gun.
Ryan calmly replies: “Things were simpler then.â€
While little else is revealed in the trailer, the film takes place 30 years after the original, with Officer K unearthing a long-buried secret which could bring chaos to an already fractured society.
His discovery leads him to try and find Rick Deckard, who has not been seen for 30 years.
Along the way the actors will be joined on screen by Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Mackenzie Davis, and Jared Leto.
Blade Runner 2049 is set for release in October 2017.
