HERE’S a not-so-jolly story — a mother wants her local Santa kicked to the kerb for fat-shaming her son.
Ashley Mayse told WLOS-TV that her nine-year-old son Anthony started crying when the Santa Claus in Forest City in Rutherford County, North Carolina, told him to “lay off the hamburgers and french fries†during his Christmas visit on Saturday.
After asking for a drone and an iPad for Christmas, the Santa lashed out.
“I went out and started crying, because I just felt so bad,†Anthony told WLOS-TV.
“When he got done he said ‘just lay off the hamburgers and french fries’ and that really just disrespected me and I felt awful.â€
Anthony said he cried until he went to bed that night, because it affected him so badly.
Anthony’s mother said she wanted to make Christmas special for her son and never thought visiting Santa would break her child’s heart.
“This year we thought it’d be fun to take the carriage ride and let the kids ice skate and go see Santa,†Ms Mayse said.
“It was very rude, I’ve never seen anything like it.â€
Anthony said nobody should disrespect a nine-year-old, no matter their shape or size.

The Santa is employed by the town of Forest City, and Ms Mayse says coal in his stocking would be too good for such behaviour.
The town manager said Santa apologised to the family as well as a supervisor, but mum wants a harsher punishment.
The Santa resigned after Anthony came forward with his story.
The nine-year-old, meanwhile, says he tore up his photo with Santa and will take his wish list to another Father Christmas next year.
