But despite their perfectly tanned skin and super white smiles, Mel Tansley and James Ferguson insist they are totally “down to earth people” despite being dubbed the ‘best looking couple in Britain’ on social media.

Ms Tansley and Mr Ferguson, who met 18 months ago while on a photoshoot, admitted that their looks often stopped strangers in the street — but, just like the rest of us — the pair love to “sit in bed with no tan, no make-up in our pj’s eating pizza and ice cream”.

In an interview with Caters, Ms Tansley said they received “compliments from strangers all the time” and that both her and her fiance try and ensure they always look their best when leaving the house.

But the genetically blessed duo, who admit to exercising seven days a week, fake tan, whiten their teeth and compete in fitness competitions together, say that their looks come down to hard work.

“We are the most down to earth people and those who know us personally will agree with this and the great morals we have independently and as a couple,” the 21-year-old wrote on her Instagram page.

“We do get complimented for our hard work and achievements/improvements we have made together by people we know and strangers and I don’t think that’s a bad thing.”

Earlier this week, the pair became an online sensation and created into a meme after they were labelled the ‘Best looking couple in the UK’.

The pair, who competed in a Mr and Mrs competition earlier this month — took out the top two positions.

“Both myself and James try and ensure we always look our best when we leave the house,” Ms Tansley said.

“We go to the gym every evening, fake tan and whiten our teeth so we are always prepared for shoots and catwalk opportunities.

“We always support each other and I’ve never missed James on stage, his success in the fitness industry makes me so proud.”

Despite their success, the pair have relatively normal jobs and plan on getting married in 2018.

“It would be amazing if James could become a fitness model full time instead of a mortgage adviser as that’s his real passion,” she said.

“But it’s a hard to get into it even when you’ve got an amazing physique.

“I’d love to walk catwalks all the time too and after featuring in a few Asian wedding magazines, there’s nothing more I enjoy more.”
