SINGER Lady Gaga will play Donatella Versace in an upcoming series exploring the 1997 murder of Donatella’s fashion designer brother Gianni.
The 30-year-old popstar will play the 61-year-old fashionista in the upcoming third series of American Crime Story, subtitled Versace/Cunanan, Us Weekly reported.
Donatella was 42 when her brother was gunned down outside his Miami mansion by Andrew Cunanan, a gay serial killer who took his own life eight days after the killing.
The series will be produced by Ryan Murphy, who cast Lady Gaga in the fifth and sixth seasons of American Horror Story.
Gaga won the Golden Globe award for Best Actress in a Limited TV Series for her role in American Horror Story: Hotel in January this year.
American Crime Story and American Horror Story follow a similar format, with each season telling a distinctly different story, but with many cast members returning in different roles.
The debut season of American Crime Story , subtitled The People v OJ Simpson, starred Cuba Gooding Jr as Simpson, Friends’ David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian and John Travolta as Simpson’s lawyer Robert Shapiro.
Other casting for American Crime Story: Versace/Cunanan has not been announced.
