Stephanie Scott was murdered in the town of Leeton, NSW.

THE father of murdered schoolteacher Stephanie Scott has reportedly been killed by a falling tree.

The body of farmer Bob Scott was reportedly found at lunchtime on Tuesday on the family property.

Just three weeks ago, Vincent Stanford, 25, a cleaner at the same school as Ms Scott, was sentenced to life in prison for her murder and sexual assault.

Ms Scott lived in Leeton in the NSW Riverina region. On Tuesday, the Mayor of Leeton, Paul Maytom, led the condolences.

“The family have suffered so much with the absolute tragedy of Stephanie, and now to have this,” he told Channel 7.

On Tuesday afternoon, NSW Police confirmed a man died after being hit by a falling tree in the NSW Central West. Police said the family had been informed and were “beside themselves”.

Emergency services were called to a farm on Namami Road, near Canowindra, about 12pm following reports the man, aged in his 60s, had died.

Inquiries suggest the man was hit by a falling tree while clearing trees on the property. His body was located this morning after he wasn’t seen overnight.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.

Ms Scott, who was soon to be married to Aaron Leeson-Woolley, was murdered in the NSW town of Leeton in the NSW Riverina region, in 2015.

Stanford pleaded guilty to the attack, in which he sexually assaulted her, punched her unconscious and then stabbed her in the neck

Following his daughter’s tragic murder, Mr Scott said he hoped Stephanie was now “in the best place possible”

“When you die I don’t know what happens really, but you leave this body and our spirit is what goes on,” Mr Scott said.

“She had plenty of spirit so, whatever happens, she should be in the best place possible because she had one of the best spirits you’ve ever come across.”

Stephanie’s mother, Merrilyn Scott, said in October, in her victim’s impact statement to the court, “Our lives have been shattered — how could this happen to our beautiful girl?”

At his trial, it emerged Stanford had not expected to see anyone at work at Leeton High School on Easter Sunday, 2015.

His victim, Ms Scott, left her home in Leeton that day, interrupting her wedding preparations, so she could plan lessons for her English and drama students while she was on her honeymoon.

When he was asked by police why he stabbed her he told them, “to make sure she was dead”.

He later dumped the body in bushland at a the Cocoparra National Park, 70km away, and set her body on fire.

His identical twin brother Marcus has already been sentenced for being an accessory after the fact of murder after he was sent Ms Scott’s two rings, her engagement one given to her as a graduation gift, and her driver’s licence.

He sold the rings at a pawn shop for $705.

Senior police told News Corp the attack was one of the most brutal they had ever investigated.

The attack happened just after noon. Ms Scott had just made a phone call to a bus company to arrange transport the following weekend for her wedding guests.

“As she walked along the corridor after exiting the administration building, Ms Scott encountered Stanford, who had been waiting for her. She said to him, ‘I’m going home now, have a happy Easter’,” court documents stated.

Ms Scott went to unlock a steel gate and Stanford grabbed her from behind, around the waist, covered her mouth and began dragging her into a storeroom.

He initially claimed he had been grocery shopping at the time the attack took place — but the local supermarket was shut.

Stanford later made a full admission.
