Julian Assange claims his internet connection was intentionally cut "by a state party", at the end of a weekend in which he was visited by Pamela Anderson and published a series of cryptic, coded tweets.

Monday morning London time the Wikileaks Twitter account, which is run by Assange, tweeted "Julian Assange's internet link has been intentionally severed by a state party. We have activated the appropriate contingency plans".

WikiLeaks 'part of' Russian influence on US election

US Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton says the US has never been in a situation where an adversary like Russia is working so hard to influence the outcome of an election.

Though he did not name the state, conspiracy theorists had plenty of ideas, linking it to Wikileaks' ongoing staged release of hacked emails from Hillary Clinton's campaign manager John Podesta.

They also seized on a series of tweets that Wikileaks put out on Sunday night, described as 'pre-commitments' and consisting of 64-character cryptographic hashes and three titles: "UK FCO", "Ecuador" and "John Kerry".

Pre-commitment codes have been used previously, Gizmodo reported, by Tor Project developer Andrea Shepard and by Edward Snowden.

Someone in receipt of information from Wikileaks can use the codes to verify that the information has not been altered since Wikileaks encoded it.

The codes' titles suggest that Wikileaks is distributing new information involving the UK Foreign Office, Ecuador and US Secretary of State John Kerry.

Mr Kerry was in London on the weekend, for talks on the Syria conflict.

There was some online speculation, particularly from 'alt-right' bloggers, that the codes were a 'dead man switch' triggering the release of information after Assange's death.

However the Ecuadorian embassy confirmed Assange was fine, and the Wikileaks account was subsequently active as normal.

On Monday evening, WikiLeaks clarified that it had been Assange's hosts who cut off his internet.

It tweeted "We can confirm Ecuador cut off Assange's internet access Saturday, 5pm GMT, shortly after publication of Clinton's Goldman Sachs speechs (sic)".

Assange was visited on Saturday by former Baywatch star and Playboy model Pamela Anderson.

She said afterwards "I brought him a nice vegan lunch and some vegan snacks… he said I tortured him with bringing him vegan food".

"I really believe in him and think he's a good person, and I'm concerned about his health, his family, and I just hope that by some miracle he's set free," she told Press Association.

Fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, a supporter of Assange, told the Mail on Sunday that Anderson had met with Assange to discuss a new trust she wants to set up.

"She told me afterwards that they got on very well. Julian was just brilliant. Pamela's trying to help people with her new trust and he gave her some ideas on how to do that."

Assange, 45, is due to be interviewed in mid-November by Swedish prosecutors over allegations, which he denies, that he committed rape in 2010.

He has been under diplomatic protection in the Ecuadorian embassy for four years, in order avoid extradition to Sweden.

Swedish chief prosecutor Ingrid Isgren and a police investigator will ask questions through an Ecuadorian prosecutor, who will later report the findings to Sweden.
