THE internet link of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been “intentionally severed”, according to the organisation.

An early morning tweet accused a “state party” of being responsible for shutting down internet access to the Australian transparency activist, who has been living inside the Ecuadorean Embassy in London for over four years.

The tweet said: “Julian Assange’s internet link has been intentionally severed by a state party. We have activated the appropriate contingency plans.”

The news came after WikiLeaks released another batch of emails from the campaign manager of US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

The leaks of internal emails from campaign chairman John Podesta’s hacked account has reportedly angered the Democrat candidate. Especially after the Republican candidate Donald Trump has begun using the contents of the hacked emails to attack Clinton’s integrity on the campaign trail.

“She’s pissed,” one longtime aide told Politico.

WikiLeaks did not release any more information about the incident, which attracted scores of comments on social media, ranging from concerns for his health, to support for any move to stop the activities of the group.

Assange is wanted for questioning in Sweden over a sex allegation, which he denies, but he believes that if he leaves the embassy he will be extradited to the US for questioning over the activities of WikiLeaks.

While Assange’s actions have infuriated authorities he can still call on the support of some celebrity friends, including Pamela Anderson who visited him at the weekend.

She was seen on Saturday carrying a bag of food from Pret-a-Manger to the beleaguered Assange who has been holed up in the tiny London embassy since 2012.

The former Baywatch star struck an unlikely friendship with Assange in 2014 after she was introduced by fashion designer Vivienne Westwood.
