Lisa Wilkinson on Pat Cash: ‘He will be a star on news.com.au, I have no doubt.’

The 51-year-old sporting great’s planned interview had to be abandoned as it was beset with technical issues, but not before Cash expressed his frustration in rather morning television-unfriendly language.

Crossing to Cash in London to discuss Nick Kyrgios’ eight-week ban from pro-tennis, sports reporter Tim Gilbert clearly couldn’t be heard by the tennis champ, who struggled to hear his line of questioning.

“I have lost it — oh, s**t,” Cash said, before realising he was live on air.

“I hope you didn’t hear that,” he said.

Gilbert had to abandon the cross, promising that “We will try to get back to Pat ... We got the context of what he was saying.”

Razor-sharp host Lisa Wilkinson was quick to throw in a quip about the live flub:

“We certainly did! Meantime, he will be a star on news.com.au, I have no doubt.”
