RUSSELL Crowe has reportedly been involved in a bizarre hotel altercation with Azealia Banks at a party in Beverly Hills.
TMZ reports the Gladiator star grabbed the American rapper in a “bear hug†and carried her from the premises on Saturday evening after she “turned into the ‘plus one’ from hellâ€.
Crowe was reportedly hosting the intimate gathering with about 10 friends in his hotel suite.
Eyewitnesses claim the 25-year-old was behaving “erratically†at the private party, which she had attended with rap group Wu-Tang Clan and director RZA.
According to one source, a disagreement broke out after Banks mocked the music selection at the event and called the guests at Crowe’s party “boring white menâ€.
When a female guest stepped in to defend Crowe, the source quotes Banks as saying: “You would love it if I broke my glass, stabbed you guys in the throat, and blood would squirt everywhere like some real Tarantino s***.â€
The controversial rapper is alleged to have reached for a glass, at which point Crowe stepped in and “grabbed her in a bear hug and carried her out of the suite,†the US gossip site reports. “He then called hotel security guards who removed Azealia from the grounds.â€
Banks took to her Facebook page to post a different version of events, claiming Crowe called her a racial slur and threw her out. She has since deleted that message.
“To recap my night, I went to a party at Russell crowe’s (sic) suite, at which he called me a n----r ... threw me out...â€
She added, “Last night was one of the hardest nights of sleep I’ve had in a long time. The men in the room allowed it to happen. I feel terrible today.â€
After deleting the posts, Banks simply wrote, “I have receipts. Stay tuned.â€
TMZ reports the alleged feud is now in the hands of police after Banks filed a report over the incident. Sources told the site that Banks demanded Crowe apologise the following day, but he refused to say sorry.
The rapper is no stranger to controversy. She was suspended from Twitter earlier this year over a series of racially charged tweets attacking former One Direction star Zayn Malik.
News.com.au has reached out to Crowe’s representatives for comment but is yet to receive a response.
