YOU know you’ve got it good when you’re willing to risk damage to your $1000 phone just to take a blurry selfie.
That’s exactly what a bunch of people are doing after adopting what can only be described as a laughable new selfie-taking trend which involves taking a photo of yourself, while giving yourself a high-five.
Judging from the internet annals, North Carolina State university student Seth Schneider is responsible for the bizarre fad after a photo he took of the apparently miraculous feat went viral.
“Today is the proudest day of my life. I successfully took a picture of me high fiving myself,†he wrote.
The internet clearly agreed with the sentiment. The photo was retweeted nearly 170,000 times and has so far received more than 428,000 likes.
After going viral the photo has prompted other netizens to emulate the trick — so much so that Mr Schneider has updated his Twitter profile with the disclaimer: “I am not responsible for any broken phonesâ€.
He told other users on the social media platform that he caught his phone after it took the snap while others have used pillows to mitigate the risk of a broken phone.
In terms of viral challenges it might not be the internet’s best effort, but mildly amusing nonetheless.
