Tasmania police say a body found in the Fingal area is believed to be missing Launceston man Michael Hamlyn.

Twenty-year-old Mr Hamlyn, also known as Miguel Williams, disappeared in early July.

He was last seen on July 10 as he was leaving his Mowbray house for work, but he missed his shift and was reported missing the next day.

Police said a trail bike rider found Mr Hamlyn's motorcycle while riding in the Fingal area around 10:15am on Saturday.

A search of the area located a body nearby.

The person is yet to be formally identified.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
