Tactics surrounding Monday night’s presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are already getting dirty, with Gennifer Flowers, the former model who had an affair with Bill Clinton in the 1990s, reportedly planning to sit in the front row at Mr Trump’s invitation.
Mr Trump had threatened to bring Ms Flowers to the debate after Mark Cuban, a vocal Trump opponent and Clinton supporter, had said he would be sitting in the front row for the debate.
“If dopey Mark Cuban of failed Benefactor fame wants to sit in the front row, perhaps I will put Gennifer Flowers right alongside of him!†Mr Trump wrote on Twitter.
In reply, Ms Flowers responded; “Hi Donald. You know I’m in your corner and will definitely be at the debate!â€
Ms Flowers revealed a 12 year affair with Mr Clinton during his 1992 presidential campaign. He initially denied the relationship, but in 1998 admitted the sexual relationship under oath.
In 2007, Ms Flowers had said she would support Mrs Clinton in her first campaign to be Democratic presidential nominee. “I can’t help but want to support my own gender,†she said at the time.
Monday night’s debate will be the first of three televised presidential debates .
