Taylor Swift has dumped Tom Hiddleston after three months of dating, Us Weekly reports.

“She was the one to put the brakes on the relationship,” a source close to the couple said.

“Tom wanted the relationship to be more public than she was comfortable with. Taylor knew the backlash that comes with public displays of affection but Tom didn’t listen to her concerns when she brought them up.”

The source said 35-year-old Hiddleston is “embarrassed that the relationship fizzled out.” But People magazine reported the split was “amicable”.

The pair went public with their love on June 15, when photos of them kissing on the beach in Rhode Island went viral.

What followed was a whirlwind romance: trips to Italy and Australia; a star-studded Fourth of July party; meeting each other’s parents.

But this time, it wasn’t meant to be.

News of the split comes just hours after The Sun reported the Bad Blood singer suspected her British beau of using the relationship to boost his own profile. The Night Manager hunk has been tipped to replace Daniel Craig as 007.

“Tom wants their relationship to be public, even asking Taylor to go to the Emmys with him, but Taylor wants to keep her private life private,” a source said.

“Tom’s need for their relationship to be so public so quickly makes her uncomfortable. She tried to be OK with it in the beginning but fears he is in love with the idea of her and not falling in love with her for the right reasons.

“Taylor is an independent young woman and doesn’t feel like she needs a boyfriend to make her feel complete.”

The pair began dating in June after meeting at the star-studded MET Gala (where they were photographed getting down on the dancefloor) in May.

Swift was dating British superstar DJ Calvin Harris at the time and they split weeks later. But Harris has reportedly found love again with Mexican actress and model Eiza Gonzalez.

Hiddleston and Swift, The Sun reported, have not been photographed in public since July.

And despite the excessive declarations of love, most notably Hiddleston being pictured wearing a “I heart TS” vest during Fourth of July celebrations in Rhode Island, the cracks were clearly starting to appear.

Reports in the US overnight claimed Hiddleston was sick of being Swift’s “glorified escort” and feared he was becoming a “laughing-stock” due to his girlfriend’s reluctance to be seen at a public event together.

She’s never been on a red carpet with a boyfriend in her career and the High-Rise actor was getting frustrated with her continued reluctance.

A source told Radar Online: “Tom is just done with it. It bothers him so much that they’ve become known as this fauxmance laughing-stock.”
