A woman has suffered serious injuries to her hands, foot and leg, including severed fingers and toes, in an alleged machete attack in Sydney's south-west.
Police said the alleged attack followed a heated argument between the 45-year-old woman and a 49-year-old man she was driving with in a car on Raby Road, Raby.
A police statement said the attack was a domestic-related assault.
The attack happened after the pair got out of the car in the neighbouring suburb of St Andrews and continued to argue, a police statement said.
Police said the man returned to the car and removed a machete from under the driver's seat before allegedly "striking the woman several times to the hands and legs".
The woman suffered serious injuries including the de-gloving of her left hand and the severing of her left and right little fingers.
She also had two toes on her left foot severed and a large laceration to her right calf and ankle.
The man then drove the woman to Campbelltown Hospital before returning home.
Police have charged him with attempted murder and wound with intent to murder.
He has been refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court.
The woman was transferred to Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition after being assessed.
