A family who recently moved into their new home in Melbourne's east say it is a miracle nobody was injured when a tree crashed into their house overnight.
The tree fell on the property on Caroline Street, Kalorama, around 2:30am.
Fabiano Morais said he rescued one child from a bedroom before he went to rescue another.
"I heard this big crash, this big noise and then I started shouting," he said.
"I went to my little kid's bedroom and then I tried to open the door. He was crying and I was struggling with the door, it was hard to open.
"Finally when I opened the door it was a mess, everything was down and he was under everything, bricks and the roof, the tree was collapsed over him."
The family only moved into the house last week. Mr Morais said they were lucky no-one was injured.
"I was scared to death screaming and shouting, very nervous but I think we did everything we should do," he said.
"It's a miracle. We are very grateful."
