A 20-year-old man has been charged with affray by police investigating the fatal stabbing of a teenager at Ryde in Sydney's north-west.
On Sunday, police said a fight involving several young people broke out at the party on Victoria Road in Ryde around midnight.
Six males and one woman were stabbed.
Paramedics said a boy, understood by the ABC to be 16-year-old Aidan Smith, was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition and later died.
Police said a man from Ryde had been under police guard at Westmead Hospital since the incident.
He was today taken to Parramatta Police Station and charged with affray.
He was refused bail and is expected to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Thursday August 11.
A strikeforce was established to investigate the fight and police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
