RUPERT Murdoch has just sold his New York townhouse for more than $37 million after a hotly-contested battle between all-cash bidders.
The media mogul had listed the luxury West Village home in April — just a month after marrying former model Jerry Hall — with an asking price of $38.5 million ($US28.9m) and the home has already been snapped up by a lucky buyer.
Exclusive selling agent Dolly Lenz confirmed the property had sold for just under $37.5 million ($US28m), after multiple all-cash bidders had fought it out to own the home.
“The winner of the bidding war is a domestic buyer,†Ms Lenz said.
With New York currently experiencing a lull in their luxury market, the speedy sale and price is considered out of the ordinary.
Featuring four bedrooms and seven bathrooms, property records show the multi-level townhouse has more than 600sq m interior space, not including the enviable rooftop terrace.
Inside the building there is also a four-person lift, a terraced garden, multiple “grand entertaining spaces†and city views including glimpses of the Empire State Building.
Among the long list of to-die-for features there is a grand main bedroom suite, huge windows, marble fireplaces, an outdoor space on nearly every level, wine cellar, home gym, a screening room and a fully appointed Poggenpohl kitchen with Miele appliances, an espresso maker, double oven, convection oven, dual dishwashers and sinks plus one-touch automated drawers with interior lighting.
Mr Murdoch bought the property in March 2015 for $32.5 million ($US $25 million) from developer George Agiovlasitis.
