Bob Jane has declared bankruptcy after his messy divorce and family dispute. The tyre king and former race car champion says he has just $15 cash and a Holden Commodore. The 86-year-old is set to have his Diggers Rest Victorian farm sold as creditors circle. The farm title has four registered caveats and 11 warrants, with another caveat and warrant unregistered after lobbing just this week. Jane’s home, bought for around $750,000 in 1967, is estimated conservatively as worth $2.2 million. Jane who still lives in the house, filed documents with the Australian Financial Security Authority showing he owes $105m to the taxman in capital gains tax.
Melbourne coach exits Elwood
Departing Melbourne Demons coach Paul Roos and wife Tami have upsized to Brighton from Elwood. They spent $3.85m on a four-bedroom home bought from Allan Sinclair, the former Fitzroy player whose son Callum plays for Sydney Swans. The Roos family are long-time Sydneysiders who quietly bought back last year, securing a $2.165m Coogee apartment crafted by architects Allen Jack+Cottier. They bought their $2.525m contemporary Elwood property in 2014 after signing onto the AFL club for a three-year deal. The Elwood property sold recently through Chisholm & Gamon who secured $3.27m from buyers agents, David and Kim Easterbrook.
Veronicas star sells Brisbane unit
Jessica Origliasso, one half of pop duo The Veronicas, has sold her Brisbane bolthole for $599,000. She made a profit on the New York loft-style apartment, having paid $465,000 in 2009. Located in the 1930s heritage listed McWhirters Building, the art deco apartment had three bedrooms, a modern kitchen and a sunroom. Jessica and her sister Lisa burst on to the pop scene in 2005. Now based in Los Angeles, the singer recently said she missed the smell of the Brisbane air. Lisa still owns at Bowen Hills.
Baird sells and buys in Gold Coast
After selling his Cronin Island home for $11m, the owner of the Links Golf Course at Hope Island Resort, entrepreneur David Baird and wife Marion have bought back into Surfers Paradise. They spent $7m on a property on Commodore Drive for a five-bedroom, six-bathroom home on 1124sq m. It has a floor area of more than 800sq m. Spread over four levels, the canal-front home comes with an elevator. “Everything about our new home is smaller,†Baird told The Gold Coast Bulletin. Ray White agent Robert Graham listed it in 2014 with $9m hopes.
McLardy lists Malvern home
Former Melbourne Demons president and insurance salesman Don McLardy and wife Clare have their Malvern home listed. Marshall White Real Estate agent Justin Long has just knocked $200,000 off the asking price to $4.9m. McLardy paid $3.505m in 2009. Apparently the teppanyaki grill beside the pool has walls covered with AC/DC memorabilia. There’s also Melbourne memorabilia in the billiard room.
