TWO women and a toddler were gunned down outside their Bastrop, Texas home before a gunman turned his weapon upon himself.
A second toddler was rushed to hospital with non life-threatening injuries, a Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman says.
KXAN News reports a witness as saying she had called 911 after bullets ripped through her house. She said she later saw three adults and a child laying on the ground.
The Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office has told local media that its deputies responded to reports of gunfire at 202 Childers Drive, Bastrop.
By the time the deputies arrived, the gunman had taken his own life.
The shooting, which was reported at 6:13pm Texas time (9:13am AEST) took part inside an apartment complex in a Bastrop commercial district.
No details about the suspect or a motive for the shooting are yet available.
Bastrop has a population of about 7500 and is situated about 70km north of Austin.
