MISSING Melbourne woman Karen Ristevski had plans to leave her husband.

She disappeared more than three weeks ago and slowly more details are being leaked about what was happening in her life when she went missing.

Anthony Rickard, 32, claims to be the woman’s stepson and told the Herald Sun he heard Mrs Ristevski talk about leaving her husband Borce when her daughter Sarah turned 21.

Her daughter celebrated the milestone birthday earlier this year.

Mrs Ristevski, 47, was last seen leaving her Avondale Heights home, in Melbourne’s northwest, about 10am on June 29 after she went for some fresh air following a heated discussion with her husband about financial problems.

Mr Rickard has been questioned by police and he told the Herald Sun he denied killing his stepmother despite feeling anger over a family dispute.

Her husband Borce was also questioned by police about his wife’s disappearance earlier this month and was released pending further inquiries.

During a family appeal for information, a Channel 7 reporter asked Mr Ristevski if he killed his wife.

Mrs Ristevski’s aunt, Patricia, fired back at the reporter for asking the question.

“That’s really not appropriate at the moment ... honestly, I have to say, that is really inappropriate ... this is about Karen, this is not about anything else, this is about finding Karen,” she said.

Last week The Australian revealed the Ristevski family, the owners of Bella Bleu boutiques, had been in about $600,000 debt for the last decade.

One of their clothes stores is at the Watergardens Town Centre in Taylors Lakes, in Melbourne’s northwest, and the other is in Melbourne’s north at Broadmeadows.

Real estate group Vicinity and financial company Perpetual lodged a caveat over the family’s $1.1 million home, believed to be due to one of their stores falling behind in rent.

A caveat means the family home can’t be sold or transferred into another name.

Mr Ristevski and his brother previously owned successful clothing manufacturer Blue Laser Jean Co but the business racked up $600,000 in unsecured debt after its major customer restructured.

Ms Ristevski is 160cm tall, with a slim build and shoulder length brown hair.

She was last seen wearing a black jacket and jeans and is known to frequent Taylors Lakes.

Police have said they hold grave concerns for her welfare as she hasn’t used her phone or accessed her bank account since.
