POLICE have released a photograph of a man following the shooting of a 48-year-old man who had contronted a perpetrator attempting to break into a car.
In a statement, police said they wished to speak to 23-year-old Tait Streeter, following the incident at Gaven on the Gold Coast on Saturday night.
Just before midnight yesterday, a man confronted another man who was attempting to break into a car, which was parked in the front yard of a home on Arjuna Way,†the statement said.
“When confronted by the car’s owner, the man discharged a single shot from a rifle, wounding the car owner in the abdomen. The man then fled the scene on foot.â€
The 48-year-old victim is in Gold Coast University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police on Sunday afternoon also released the image of a ‘gunmetal grey’ 2011 Ford Falcon utility with a silver tray and registration 777 TOX, which they believe Mr Streeter is driving.
Another vehicle he was using, a white Holden utility, has been located in Cottesloe Street.
Police believe an earlier incident on Saturday night, where a stolen vehicle towing a car trailer crashed on Serpentine Creek Rd at Redland Bay about 7pm, may also be linked to the Gold Coast shooting.
A passerby stopped to help the driver following the crash but the driver then produced a pump-action rifle and demanded the Good Samaritan hand over the keys to their vehicle.
The thief took the vehicle, which was later found at a carpark in Ormeau about 8.30pm.
Members of the public have been warned not to approach Tait Streeter if they see him but to contact Crime Stroppers immediately on 1800 333 000.
