ABC media personality Adam Spencer has listed his double-storey terrace in inner Sydney with price expectations of about $1.2 million through LJ Hooker, Newtown. The world-class debater purchased the Laura Street, Newtown terrace for $590,000 in 2002, and plans to auction it on August 6, having made a “lifestyle change†a few years ago.
The three-bedroom terrace has been styled ahead of its auction. It has one internal bathroom while a laundry and second toilet is positioned in the rear garden. Selling points include the terrace’s generous rear deck and gardens in a peaceful inner-city street. Spencer is selling the terrace through LJ Hooker agent Nick Moraitis, who says buyer interest is at the $1.2m-$1.3m mark.
Country bolthole
Clean Up Australia founder Ian Kiernan spends almost every weekend at his country retreat near Bathurst, 200km west of Sydney, but he has long wanted to offload it for a bullish Â$1Âm. Built in 1830, Kiernan’s country outpost, known as Westham, was restored in 2004.
Based in Sydney’s Kings Cross during the week, 75-year-old Kiernan says it is time to move on from the 1.77ha property, which sports a main house featuring four bedrooms and one bathroom and is often rented out as a farm stay. A separate convict-built quarters features studio accommodation, including a bedroom, a self-contained kitchen and bathroom. There is an open-plan barn with three bedrooms, a bathroom and kitchen, plus a 12-car shed, dam and spring-water well.
“It’s a delight to be there,†says Kiernan, who has listed the Âproperty on and off for the past five years.
“But I need to get on to the next property.â€
Westham, 15 minutes’ drive from Bathurst at scenic O’Connell, is being marketed by Raine & Horne Bathurst agent Natalie Moase.
