AN ABORIGINAL activist has labelled Queensland senator elect Pauline Hanson a “racist redneck†in a public dressing down caught on video at a Cairns indigenous Art Fair.
Tensions reportedly rose after Ms Hanson arrived unannounced with a 60 Minutes film crew at the fair on Saturday.
A video showing Aboriginal leader Murrandoo Yanner lambasting the One Nation leader at the event has attracted hundreds of thousands of views on social media.
“You picked on Aboriginal people, now you are kicking the Muslims around,†he said.
“You’re just a racist redneck with your red hair. Go back to Ipswich and your fish and chip shop.â€
A small crowd can be heard cheering Mr Yanner on as he continued to give Ms Hanson a piece of his mind.
“You are intellectuality dishonest and you’re not welcome here,†he said.
Ms Hanson used her maiden speech when elected to the House of Representatives in 1996 to criticise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people for getting what she referred to as special and preferential treatment.
She recently called for a ban on Muslim immigration to Australia after the Orlando nightclub shooting in America last month.
A spokesman for Ms Hanson said she would not be making a comment at this time.
