Is it a lake? Or is it a wall? the internet can’t decide. Picture: PlayBuzz

THE confusing illusion is the latest to divide the internet, and it has seriously baffled viewers, since the lush green scene is not all as it seems.

Most viewers can see a lake in the middle ground, but what if we told you that lake is a fake?

What appears to be a body of water, is actually a wall, with the lake’s white ‘shore’ actually the top of the concrete construction, reports The Sun.

And, if you look closely, you’ll see that the wall is actually obscuring most of the scene, with shrubs growing on the near side.

The brain-bending photo was originally shared on Playbuzz, before going viral and baffling the rest of the internet.

The image was originally captioned: “Clearly this is a beautiful lake vista, right?”

But viewers were shocked when they were told that they had been duped by the clever trick.

The following screen says: “Wrong! That is not a lake at all! It’s a concrete wall!”

Optical illusions like these have captivated viewers ever since the infamous ‘dress’ went viral last year.

The photo caused raging arguments after diving the internet, with half of people claiming to see a white and gold garment while the other half claimed it was black and blue.

Although the dress was later confirmed to be black and blue in reality, the reason for the controversy is down to the way people view colours.

Our perception of different colours is dependent on which shades border each other, with clashes sending unusual signals to our brain.
