THE second official trailer for the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot has debuted today, and if the initial reaction is anything to go by, it seems the film is still on track to be one of the most divisive of the year.
From the moment it was announced, the Ghostbusters reboot — replacing the original film’s male cast with a posse of female comedians including Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy — has rankled many viewers, who cried ‘sacrilege’ at the idea of tinkering with the 1984 comedy classic.

The backlash only grew when the first trailer dropped in March: it soon became the most disliked movie trailer in YouTube history, and even McCarthy herself admitted she didn’t think it was a great representation of what the film has to offer.
The new trailer features more scenes from the film, including some more welcome appearances from supporting player Chris Hemsworth, but the reaction so far has been mixed.
After less than a day on YouTube, the trailer has received five times as many dislikes as likes.
And one influential online film reviewer has gone so far as to announce he’ll boycott the film.
Reviewer James Rolfe, aka Cinemassacre, has more than two million YouTube subscribers, and he’s got a simple message for them in his latest video.
“I refuse to watch it, he says. “It looks awful, so I’m not going to see it. If you already know you’re going to hate it, then why give them your money?â€

“Maybe the actual movie is better than the trailer. Maybe it’s good.â€
Rolfe goes on to say the new Ghostbusters film should’ve reunited the core cast of the original, all now in their mid-60s — or in the case of Harold Ramis, dead.
“I see a tonne of bad movies knowingly and with pleasure. But this isn’t just any bad movie: this is one of the most celebrated franchises ever,†he says.
Strikes us that if more movie reviewers just opted out of seeing movies they didn’t think were going to be good, Margaret and David would’ve had a much shorter show, but each to their own. Watch his full video below:
