E! News is today reporting that Gilmore Girls star Alexis Bledel and her husband, actor Vincent Kartheiser, have welcomed their first son.

This may be confusing news to the Gilmore Girls fans among us, who know Bledel has been busy filming the Netflix reboot of the beloved TV series in recent weeks. So here’s the most surprising detail: the baby was apparently born “last fall”.

For us Aussies, the American fall runs from September to December, meaning that Bledel’s little bundle of joy is now at least six months old.

Other than a few unconfirmed pregnancy rumours in mid-2015, Bledel and Kartheiser’s plans to start a family weren’t public knowledge. Even now, the private star — who has not tweeted in almost a year — has made no official acknowledgment of the news surfacing.

Bledel and Kartheiser were wed in 2014, the star having met her husband while filming a guest role on Mad Men.

For now, the new mum is focused on her star-making turn as Rory in Gilmore Girls once more, with four 90-minute specials set to air on Netlfix later in the year. The original series, about a mother and daughter living in close-knit small town Star’s Hollow, ran for 157 episodes from 2000-07.
