NOW Coldplay has finally confirmed their Australian shows, local promoters are frantically negotiating to lock in visits by a raft of pop and rock superstars for the summer season.

Beyonce is top of the list and is expected to bring her Formation tour, which kicked off in America last month, to our outdoor stadiums in late 2016.

It is one of the biggest and awe-inspiring pop productions in the world with the all-dancing, all-singing Queen Bey emerging from a gigantic rectangular box which acts as a three-dimensional video screen, lighting rig and reconfigures as its own stage.

The show is designed for big outdoor arenas and includes a conveyor runway and wide B stage in the middle of the field which also becomes a wading pool for the final numbers.

Drake is also being courted by Frontier Touring for a return visit.

They brought out the Canadian chart-topper for his first shows last year and with his latest record Views smashing into No. 1 and single One Dance holding the top spot for a few weeks, he could book concerts in smaller outdoor arenas.

One artist every promoter wants to win for their first Australian tour is Adele.

Negotiations are continuing with the British pop superstar booked up with concerts throughout Europe and America until mid November. If an Australian visit comes off, it probably wouldn’t be until early 2017.

With Sir Paul McCartney back on the road, including the inaugural Desert Trip festival in Palm Springs in October also featuring the Rolling Stones, The Who, Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Roger Waters, there is a concerted campaign for him to grant Australian fans an audience this year.

Pearl Jam have enjoyed an enduring love affair with Australia so fans are holding their breath for the rockers to announce a down under leg for their 25th anniversary tour.

Their local promoter Michael Chugg is currently overseas meeting with managers and agents to secure summer shows for a range of acts and hopefully will return with good news about Pearl Jam.

Rihanna generally includes Australia on her concert schedule and should announce dates here for her Anti World tour to hit our stages later this year within the next few months.

Other artists on the promoters’ wishlist include Radiohead, Weezer, U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Garbage.

But we probably won’t get to see Bruce Springsteen or Foo Fighters until 2018.
