Bryson Goodwin scores.

SOUTH Sydney has pinched an astonishing victory and crushed Parramatta fans with a last-minute victory at Pirtek Stadium.

It took a Greg Inglis break and offload to set Luke Keary up for a try in the dying minutes to pinch the win from a devastated Eels outfit.

Parramatta came out fired up following a horror week for the club and the Eels were on top early.

But it was South Sydney who hit the scoreboard first, momentarily silencing the Pirtek Stadium crowd.

It was then the Semi Radradra show, as the big Fijian bagged a hat-trick in the space of half an hour to have the Eels well on top.

But the Eels were overrun by a desperate Rabbitohs side in the final 20 minutes.

THE STAR

Perhaps it was a masterstroke from Souths coach Michael Maguire to shift Greg Inglis to five-eighth. A lot of people questioned the move and even more have questioned his form over the opening rounds of the season.

But it was Inglis who stood up and wreaked havoc down the left side of the field and was the catalyst for Souths’ stellar second half.

The pass he got away to Bryson Goodwin who set up Luke Keary for the final try was one of the plays of the game.

He finished the match with two linebreaks, one line-break assist, five tackle busts and 158 metres.

THE DUNCE

Danny Wicks. The Eels’ big bopper dropped the ball in the 71st minute and it led to Souths scoring their second-last try through Goodwin to get them in the match.

THE MOMENT

It’s been a tough month or more for Parramatta fans, who have endured uncertainty around the club’s future and then the axing of beloved hooker Nathan Peats this week. It was always going to be an emotional night at Pirtek Stadium and passionate Eels fans ensured the occasion wasn’t lost on anybody.

When the match clock ticked over nine minutes, thousands of blue and gold supporters got to their feet and applauded for a full 60 seconds. It was a tribute to Peats, the former No.9 who farewelled the Eels on Thursday after becoming the latest casualty in the salary cap drama.
