A MOTORIST who returned a blood-alcohol reading almost six times over the legal limit has been slapped with an immediate driving ban.
Tasmania Police said officers were called to a minor crash at Whitemore, in northern Tasmania, about 2pm today.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle had “drifted off the road and lightly grazed a power poleâ€. He was not injured in the crash.
When taken to the Deloraine Police Station, he returned a breathalyser reading of 0.347.
“He was immediately disqualified from driving for 12 months and will face court in June,†Sergeant Tony Roughan said in a statement.
