A university student was left shocked and outraged after finding a disgusting and racist comment on her bunch of bananas.

A RACIST comment directed at a university student on a bunch of bananas has sparked an investigation and an outpouring of outrage.

Faramade Ifaturoti, who is a student at Warwick University in the UK, discovered the offending item at her flat and posted it on Twitter.

She revealed how she found the fruit in her kitchen and claimed one of her flatmates was responsible.

The post has since been retweeted more than 6000 times since she posted it overnight and forced university authorities to launch an investigation.

The first year biomedical student is said to be shocked, angered and shaken by the incident and revealed she was disappointed it took an escalation on Twitter before an investigation was launched.

A university spokesperson confirmed to The Independent it was investigating the incident as a matter of urgency.

It is not yet known if it was written by a flatmate of Ms Ifaturoti’s or by a visitor.

Warwick law and sociology student Jere Agbaje told the news outlet her friend had her shopping delivered to her student accommodation on Monday night around 10pm.

She said she unpacked her shopping and found the disgusting comments the next day.

The incident has sparked an online raft of support on Twitter with users speaking out in her defence.

Others labelled it disgusting and called on the university to do more responsible.

It also sparked #WeStandWithFara, which began to trend in the UK.
