Back after being rested for one game, the big centre had a game-high 15 rebounds, 10 points, five assists, two blocks and a steal in a superb performance.
Patty Mills had six points and two assists in San Antonio’s 88-86 win over Utah but he was outshone by fellow Aussie Joe Ingles, who scored 13 points off the bench for the Jazz.
It was Ingles’ third-highest points haul of the season.
Aron Baynes had 10 points and six rebounds off the bench in Detroit’s 107-98 loss away to Miami.
Matthew Dellavedova played just 11 minutes in Cleveland’s 109-80 thrashing of Milwaukee, contributing two points and three assists.
GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS 117 — MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES 124 OT
Golden State Warriors hit an unexpected obstacle on their quest for a record 73 wins, blowing a 17-point lead and losing 124-117 in overtime to the last-place Minnesota Timberwolves.
Shabazz Muhammad scored a career-high 35 points and Andrew Wiggins had 32 as Minnesota prevented Golden State (69-9) from becoming the second team to win 70 games in a season. The Warriors now must win their final four games to break the single-season wins record of 72 set by Chicago in 1995-96. Two of their final games come against championship rivals San Antonio.
Stephen Curry had a rare off-shooting night as Golden State took its third loss against a team currently in last place in its division, following earlier defeats at Milwaukee in December and last month at the Los Angeles Lakers.
SAN ANTONIO SPURS 88 — UTAH JAZZ 86
Kawhi Leonard made the go-ahead jumper with 4.9 seconds left and scored 18 points as the San Antonio Spurs beat the Utah Jazz 88-86, giving Tim Duncan his 1,000th regular-season victory.
Rodney Hood missed the potential winning 3-pointer at the buzzer as Utah fell a half-game behind Dallas for seventh place in the Western Conference. The Jazz remained in the No. 8 slot and a half-game ahead of the Houston Rockets.
LaMarcus Aldridge and Manu Ginobili each added 14 points in the Spurs’ franchise-record 65th victory. They visit Golden State on Thursday.
Duncan became the third player with 1,000 victories in the regular season, following Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Robert Parish. Duncan is the career leader in victories with one team.
Hood finished with 23 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter.
OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER 124 — DENVER NUGGETS 102
Russell Westbrook had 13 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists to become the first player with 17 triple-doubles in a season in 27 years, and Oklahoma City routed Denver.
Westbrook has the highest total since Magic Johnson had 17 for the Los Angeles Lakers in 1988-89. Westbrook, who had seven in March while winning Western Conference player of the month honours, has 35 in his career, which is second behind LeBron James for most among active players.
Kevin Durant had 26 points and eight assists for Oklahoma City. The Thunder are locked into the No. 3 seed in the West with four games left.
Gary Harris led the Nuggets with 17 points and rookie Emmanuel Mudiay had 15. Denver has lost three in row and six straight to Oklahoma City.
TORONTO RAPTORS 96 — CHARLOTTE HORNETS 90
DeMar DeRozan scored 26 points, Kyle Lowry had 12 of his 21 in the fourth quarter and Toronto handed Charlotte back-to-back losses for the first time in more than two months.
Jonas Valanciunas had 12 points and 12 rebounds and Corey Joseph added 11 points, including two key free throws in the closing seconds, as the Raptors won for the third time in four games.
Charlotte, which lost at Cleveland on Sunday, had not lost consecutive games since defeats at Utah and Portland on Jan. 27 and 29. They Hornets had won 22 of 29 since.
Jeremy Lin matched a season best with four 3-pointers and scored 21 points for Charlotte, while Marvin Williams had 15.
MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES 108 — CHICAGO BULLS 92
Zach Randolph had 27 points and 10 rebounds, Vince Carter added 17 points and Memphis snapped a six-game losing streak by beating Chicago.
Memphis used a strong defense missing in recent games to turn back the Bulls, who had won three of four. Chicago never got the deficit under double digits in the fourth quarter of a loss that damaged its playoff hopes.
Matt Barnes scored 16 points for Memphis, and Jordan Farmar had 15.
Nikola Mirotic led Chicago with 20 points, going 6 of 9 from 3-point range. Pau Gasol had 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Derrick Rose had 12 points and eight assists, while Bobby Portis also finished with 12 points.
Chicago remained two games behind the Detroit Pistons for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
CLEVELAND CAVALIERS 109 — MILWAUKEE BUCKS 80
J.R. Smith scored 21 points and went 7 of 11 from 3-point range to lead hot-shooting Cleveland over Milwaukee.
Kevin Love added 17 points and shot 3 of 6 from behind the arc for the Cavaliers, who maintained a 3 ½-game lead over Toronto for the best record in the Eastern Conference.
LeBron James finished with 17 points and shot 7 of 9 from the field to go with nine assists. He watched the entire fourth quarter from the bench on an easy night for Cleveland, which led by 24 by halftime.
Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with 22 points and 14 rebounds.
MIAMI HEAT 107 DETROIT PISTONS 89
Goran Dragic scored 22 points to lead six Miami players in double figures, Dwyane Wade added 16 and the Heat beat Detroit.
Josh Richardson also had 16 for Miami (45-32), which remained in fifth place in the airtight Eastern Conference playoff race. No. 3 Atlanta (46-32) beat Phoenix on Tuesday, No. 4 Boston (45-32) was idle but holds the tie-breaker over the Heat and No. 6 Charlotte (44-33) lost in Toronto to fall a game behind Miami.
The Heat got 14 points and 12 rebounds from Hassan Whiteside, 12 points from Luol Deng and 11 from Joe Johnson. The Heat held Detroit to 40 per cent shooting, 24 per cent from 3-point range.
Reggie Jackson and Tobias Harris each scored 21 for the Pistons, who remained two games ahead of Chicago for the No. 8 spot in the East. The Bulls lost in Memphis on Tuesday.
ATLANTA HAWKS 103 — PHOENIX SUNS 90
Jeff Teague scored 20 points, Kent Bazemore added 17 and Atlanta rallied from 13 down in the third quarter to beat Phoenix.
Atlanta avoided its first three-game losing streak since Feb. 19-22 and moved one-half game ahead of idle Boston for third place in the Eastern Conference.
The Hawks began the night with a one-half game lead in the Southeast Division with Miami and Charlotte.
Paul Millsap had 17 rebounds, 13 points and a game-high eight assists and Al Horford 16 points and 10 rebounds for Atlanta.
Devin Booker finished with 34 points, one shy of his career high last month, as Phoenix lost its seventh in a row. The Suns dropped to 7-32 on the road.
PHILADELPHIA 76ERS 107 — NEW ORLEANS PELICANS 93
Carl Landry scored 22 points to lead Philadelphia to a 107-93 victory over the injury-depleted New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night, ensuring that the 76ers won’t tie their own league record for fewest victories in an 82-game season.
Philadelphia improved to 10-68 and now is one win clear of the 1972-73 76ers, who set an NBA mark for futility with a 9-73 mark. The 76ers have four games remaining.
Isaiah Canaan added 16 points for the 76ers, who snapped a 12-game losing streak while winning for just the second time in the last 27 contests.
Landry made his first nine shots before finishing 9 for 10 from the field, including tying a career high with two 3-pointers.
Dante Cunningham led the Pelicans with 19 points and Alexis Ajinca chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds.
