IF your ride home from work on the train is your favourite part of the day, these might be the ideal properties for you.

Otways Loft at Forrest in Victoria is a mixture of tree-house and vintage train.

The builder of the house lived in a shed on-site and craned in a train carriage to use as a workshop during construction.

The interior of the home is a mixture of parts from the train carriage, locally felled timber, materials from a nearby church, and other salvaged bits and pieces.

The house has three bedrooms and a loft with a ladder.

The train carriage next door is also available for holiday rental.

Spend a couple of nights in the Agnas Carriage in Little Forest, Alpine in New South Wales to really get the hang of train life.

The refurbished 1911 train carriage is on 16ha of land about 25 minutes from Trainworks, the Rail and Train Museum at Thirlemere.

The Carriage is fully insulated and has a kitchen and a pantry in the conductor’s cabin.

It sleeps nine and there are two dining tables and it is all airconditioned.

There are six single compartments, each with fully functional sink and luggage rack for small overnight bag.
