A man accused of killing his housemate during a violent weekend argument in Brisbane's east has been granted bail.

Aaron Llewellyn Jones, 28, called emergency services after a fight with his housemate, 30-year-old Joel Russell Charlesworth, turned violent at their Murarrie home late on Saturday night, but Charlesworth couldn't be revived.

It's alleged he was placed in a headlock at least twice and lost consciousness.

During his second court appearance in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today, Magistrate Elizabeth Hall granted a bail application for Jones, accepting that he could reside at a Balmoral address with a friend, had no history of violent offences and there was no suggestion he would fail to appear in court in the future.
