OLIVIA Newton John’s daughter Chloe Lattanzi has lashed out at New Idea magazine, claiming that a journalist from the mag concocted an ‘interview’ after ambushing her in her apartment building.
Lattanzi and her famous mum have been in the news again recently following fresh claims Newton-John’s former partner Patrick McDermott, who went missing 11 years ago, is secretly alive and well in Mexico.
In an article titled ‘OUR PAIN OVER PATRICK’, New Idea magazine wrote that they spoke to Lattanzi at her home in Santa Monica.
“Chloe, 30, looked tired and pale as she revealed the effect the allegations have had on her family,†the article states.
New Idea quotes Lattanzi as saying that “It’s hard, we lost someone. It’s really devastating. It’s been difficult for us.†The article also claims that Lattanzi “revealed she cannot believe that he could still be alive.â€
Posting a picture of the article on her Instagram account, Lattanzi refuted the quotes, saying she was “surprised†when a reporter turned up on her doorstep uninvited.
“I never said this. I never gave an interview. A reporter let herself into my building knocked on my door and surprised me in my pyjamas asking me about how I feel about the claims about Patrick,†she wrote.
“I cannot tell you how violated and disturbed I was by her lack of taste and sensitivity to me and my family. When I was ambushed I said this was a personal topic and that it was very inappropriate to show up at my door and ask me about this. I never gave anyone an interview or a quote. this reporter ambushed me at my home and then tries to make it look like I voluntarily spoke to her. I am disgusted. i’m mostly sorry for my mom and Patrick’s family that this magazine makes up such nonsense to sell a few more copies. dont ever believe these types of magazines! They lie. And bulls**t to create a story out of nothing. and even though she violated my privacy I still didn’t want to be rude and close the door in her face. My mistake. she used my politeness against me. Next time I won’t make the same mistake. so if any of you show up at my door like that again to ask me about a death in my family. I will slam the door in your insensitive face.â€
New Idea’s report came after rival mag Woman’s Day published a report claiming McDermott, who dated the Australian star of Grease and Xanadu for nine years, had been found alive and well after vanishing on a fishing trip more than a decade ago.
The magazine claims that fresh evidence confirms previous reports that McDermott is living in Mexico, having settled down with a European girlfriend.
