BEAU Ryan’s wife Kara has broken her silence on the cheating scandal that rocked their marriage last year.
The NRL Footy Show larrikin was accused of romantic liaisons with former Hi-5 performer Lauren Brant after Brant’s former fiance Warren Riley accused the pair of cheating in an interview with Woman’s Day magazine.
Beau and Kara have a three-year-old daughter Remi.
Kara says she was “upset and confused†by the situation, but says her main concern was her husband throughout the scandal.
“I was actually more worried for Beau, if I’m honest,†she told Woman’s Day. “It’s not like he was this monster that I just couldn’t be around.
“The grass isn’t always greener, and while it was a difficult situation, running from anything in life is never the answer.
“I’m probably emotionally stronger than Beau, and I could see how upset he was, so I was more concerned for him and our family.â€
The couple escaped to Vietnam to “figure everything out†after the news broke and say they realised they wanted to strengthen their bond, not tear it apart.
Ryan says dealing with the media while also supporting Kara was the hardest thing he’s ever had to do.
“It was like my whole world just fell apart,†he told the mag. “I was just really upset and embarrassed and all I could think about was my family. I just wanted to make sure they were all right.
“I know Kara was hurt, and I felt so upset about that. So whatever I had to do, whatever Kara wanted me to do, I was willing to do it.â€
The former Wests Tigers and Cronulla Sharks winger has signed on with The Footy Show for four more years, while Kara is dedicating her time to youth work with the PCYC.
