IT’S just about time to down tools and enjoy the four day Easter long weekend. If you’ve decided at the last minute you’d rather not do it at home, check out these holiday homes where you can settle in and await the arrival of the Easter bunny.

Head well out of Melbourne for the weekend and you can stay at the Blue Water Retreat at Blairgowrie.

The architecturally designed four-bedroom beach house has a pool which is solar heated.

If the weather turns a little cooler there is ducted heating and a gas log fire. Or just fill the designer freestanding bathtub and relax way.

Take a trip to the Blue Mountains in New South Wales where you can say at the Sydney View Blue Mountains house.

The contemporary sandstone house sleeps up to six guests and is set on 3.2ha of land which has panoramic views of the Sydney skyline.

Fancy a little MasterChef action on your weekend away?

If its more of an urban escape you are looking for try Luxico - The Grainger at Fitzroy in Melbourne.

Designed by John Harry Grainger, the architect responsible for the Princes Bridge and The Georges Building in Melbourne’s CBD, The Grainger is opposite the Melbourne Museum.

It was refurbished in September last year. It has seven bedrooms across two levels.

How about an island escape instead?

Yandiah - Hawkesbury River cottage is on Dangar Island which is less than one hour’s drive from the Sydney CBD and a quick ferry ride.

The house sleeps six people and has two bathrooms. Its gardens overlook the river and at the water’s edge is a pizza oven and barbecue area.
