This week has the largest number of properties on offer since November 2015 with many of those homes to be auctioned on the weekend.

CoreLogic RP Data figures reveal 3369 homes will be looking for new owners this week, with Melbourne leading the charge with 1701 properties set for sale.

Sydney has also broken the 1000 barrier with 1074 homes on offer, followed by Brisbane, 257, Adelaide, 137, and Perth, 74.

The looming Easter weekend is behind the big push this week as well as the flow on from recent public holidays in four out of eight states and territories.

This weekend is the last clear run sellers will have before the push into Easter and school holidays.

The big push comes on the back of a clearance rate of 64.9 per cent last week. Sydney had the strongest clearance rate of 71.2 per cent followed by Melbourne 68.6 per cent.

CoreLogic RP Data research director Cameron Kusher said he thought auction levels would probably return to more normal levels once the Easter holidays were finished.

Properties listed for auction this weekend include a classic Queenslander at 21 Ascot St, Ascot.

The four-bedroom home is being offered for sale for the first time in 51 years. The property has a swimming pool and spa.

In Melbourne a two-bedroom home at 42 Danks St, Albert Park, is scheduled for auction at 2.30pm on Saturday.

The single-level brick Victorian residence has been renovated and has open-plan living and dining areas.

The number of properties newly listed for sale in the past four weeks has increased by 12 per cent since this time last year.

Melbourne has had the largest number of new listings, 9376, followed by Sydney, 7406 and Brisbane, 6549.

The Perth market received 4924 new listings in the past four weeks, while Adelaide had 2734, Canberra, 603, Hobart, 445 and Darwin, 262.
