We’ve all been there.

The Irishman shanked a tee shot on the 15th hole during the final round of the Honda Classic at Palm Beach Gardens on Monday (AEDT) — and his knee jerk reaction was priceless.

The 28-year-old let himself have it with some colourful swearing as he watched his ball swirl into a water hazard.

The problem was his entire self pep talk was cleanly picked up by the television broadcast microphones.

“Ahhh you f***ing idiot. F***,” Lowry said as soon as his club had made contact with the ball.

The NBA golf commentary team immediately apologised for Lowry’s choice words as the ball sunk well short of the green.

Naturally, Lowry was soon trending on social media with mixed reaction to his choice of phrase.

The man himself wasn’t too fussed by the whole situation.

Let’s be honest. If you’ve played so much as a game of putt-putt, you can understand Lowry’s slip of the tongue.

Meanwhile, FOXSports.com has reported Gary Woodland stripped down to his underwear during the final round of the Honda Classic.

Woodland’s tee shot on the 6th hole ended up in a water hazard, but he was fortunate enough to be able to find it. Rather than taking a drop and accepting a penalty stroke, he chose to take his pants and shoes off and play it.

We’re not going to put that on the level of an incredible shot like this, but you’ll see that on Honda Classic highlight reels for years to come. Even ending up in the sand trap is a victory when you’re wearing nothing but boxer briefs.
