MANLY Sea Eagles player Apisai Koroisau has been fined $500 after pleading guilty to illegally entering a property.

During a brief appearance at Waverley Local Court on Wednesday, the 23-year-old entered a guilty plea to illegally entering a Bondi property on December 20.

The unlawful entry followed a team drinking session with his new Manly Sea Eagles teammates.

At the time of the incident the club issued a statement saying the NRL’s integrity unit had been advised of the matter and that support was being provided to Koroisau.

“Firstly I just want to say sorry to anyone I’ve let down, especially my parents for putting them through this and... I’m just confident it’s not going to happen again,” Koroisau said.

The Sea Eagles issued another statement following Koroisau’s appearance in court, describing the incident as “minor”.

“Manly Warringah Sea Eagles player Apisai Koroisau today appeared in court in relation to a minor incident that occurred in Bondi on 20 December 2015,” the club statement read.

“The club has kept the NRL Integrity Unit informed throughout the process.

“The incident follows some extenuating circumstances in Apisai’s personal life.

“The Sea Eagles are providing Apisai with the necessary support during this time.

“The club will make no further comment.”

Koroisau was charged with entering enclosed land at Chambers Avenue without a lawful excuse following an incident at 9.30pm on a Sunday night.

According to a police fact sheet cited by Fairfax Media, Koroisau was in the act of trespassing on an Eastern Suburbs family home when a stranger yelled at him to “Get out or I’ll call the cops”.

The former Panthers and Rabbitohs player allegedly ignored the man’s request and climbed over the fence of a private property and walked into the backyard while claiming he was “looking for a case”.

He was arrested and taken to Waverley police station.

The police fact sheet stated Koroisau was too drunk to be interviewed by police at the time.

“At the time of his arrest, the accused was well affected by intoxicating liquor, stating that he had been drinking earlier with his football team,” the fact sheet said.
