A FLIGHT from Sydney to LA was diverted to Brisbane this afternoon due to a security threat.
Virgin Australia’s flight VA1, which left Sydney before midday, was diverted to Brisbane three hours into the flight and landed safely this afternoon.
A Virgin spokesperson said a bomb threat had been called in and the airline made the decision to turn the plane around.
They said the Australian Federal Police had ascertained the threat was a hoax.
“The safety of our guests and team members is always our highest priority,†the spokesperson said.
“A full search of the aircraft has been conducted by the AFP, and the AFP has confirmed the travelling public and aircraft have been cleared of any potential danger.â€
The passengers will reboard in Brisbane and fly to LA at 10pm local time.
