Sydney CBD’s, The Galeries, has welcomed the Chinese New Year with a visual tribute and series of activities running until February 21.
The centre says its Lunar New Year campaign is part of a commitment to providing alternative experiences for customers. The celebration features the year of the monkey’s lucky colours – red, gold, blue and silver –in its decorations which consist of over 3,000 paper pinwheels, spinning in formations of red, blue, gold and silver as they hang from the centre’s glass-ceilinged atrium.
Arranged by professional paper engineer,Paperform’s Benja Harney, the installation represents the ‘transformation of obstacles into opportunities, its colour signifying love, peace and happiness for The Galeries’ visitors’.
Lotus The Galeries will present an interactive dessert sampling experience, available in evenings from February 10 to 14. The banquet will be designed under the guidance of Lotus head pastry chef Tiffany Jones in collaboration with Black Star pastry’s executive chef Sam Yeo.
Jones said the menu “is inspired by the Chinese blessings of wealth, prosperity, and longevity.â€
