CHRIS Martin can’t say he wasn’t warned.
The Coldplay singer has become the butt of online jokes after being upstaged by Beyonce and Bruno Mars at the Super Bowl 50 halftime show.
Social media erupted with gifs, tweets and memes poking fun at the British frontman for struggling to keep up with his fast-paced counterparts.
Some observers even compared him to the uncoordinated dancing shark from Katy Perry’s halftime show last year.
The hilarious memes come after Martin’s 11-year-old daughter, Apple, warned him about the cruelty of the internet.
“My daughter said the sweetest thing yesterday. ‘How you feeling about the Super Bowl?’ ‘Of course, we’re a little bit nervous’,†Martin told CBS News, laughing.
“She said to me, ‘Dad, the worst that could happen is that you’ll get turned into a meme. And after a month or so people will just forget!’â€
However, it’s clear the singer didn’t heed his wise daughter’s warning, with even celebrities taking a swipe.
Pitch Perfect actress Anna Kendrick tweeted: “Even Chris Martin is like, what am I doing here?â€
Modern Family executive producer Danny Zuker remarked: “Chris Martin kind of looks like the guy who sings with the band at his own wedding.â€
Empire actress Taraji P Henson also had a crack — accidentally referring to Coldplay as Maroon 5. She later tweeted: “Oooooooopppps. Lmao!â€
But Martin shouldn’t feel too bad. As wise Apple said, people will have forgotten in a month or so. Hopefully.
