Rose Porteous has sold up an investment property in Double Bay.

The widow of Lang Hancock, Rose Porteous, has sold one of her Double Bay investment properties for more than $15 million.

The sale of the office block at 4-10 Bay St, was confirmed this week, with agents suggesting a second commercial property at 24 Bay St, could be the next to go.

The harbourside suburb’s high profile Pelicano restaurant and bar is one of the tenants of 24 Bay St, which also houses retail and office suites.

The off-market deal of 4-10 Bay St was completed before Christmas by CBRE agents Ben Stewart and Peter Krieg along with West Australian prestige real estate agent and husband of Mrs Porteous, Willie Porteous.

Mr Porteous, who owns William Porteous Properties International, was co-owner of the property.

Eastern suburbs based developers Anka Property Group have bought the building in the suburb which has become a hotspot for luxury residential apartments catering for eastern suburb downsizers.

Mr Stewart said while 24 Bay St Double Bay, also owned by Mrs Porteous was “not actively on the market” however “anything could be for sale at the right price”.

Both properties were under the spotlight in 2000 when Gina Rinehart brought legal action alleging they had been bought only after Mr Hancock handed over the money for their purchase under duress, before the action was settled.

According to RP Data 4-10 Bay St was bought for $6.1 million in 1991.
