A HOUSE built in the Swingin’ Sixties that is still channelling the age of aquarius and the Beatles is for sale for the first time in half a century.
Apart from a kitchen modernisation the Manly brick- veneer home is a faithful throwback to the mid-1960s.
There is the classic best lounge with its sateen floral wallpaper and piebald coloured carpet, mother of pearl lighting and a pink and white retro bathroom straight from the groovy age.
Photographs of 46 Francis St, Manly when built in 1967 show a London-style red telephone box and a pillar-box red post box outside – both of which have now disappeared in this age of mobiles and internet.
Maria Cassarino, of Stone Real Estate, said the deceased estate on the corner of Arthur St had a guide of $1.65 million to $1.8 million and was booked for auction on Saturday, February 20.
Ms Cassarino said buyers aged in their 20s to early 40s love untouched houses.
“They have the energy and dreams of what it can be,†she said.
“And they don’t feel bad tearing apart something that has been renovated.â€
